I'll ask Claire to send something round nearer the time.
John, any update on whether you have found a volunteer to help with press releases?

Just a reminder that anyone who wants to contribute to the forthcoming report should contact me. I'll be very happy to include any annotated games you might want to provide.

Jack, I've just published some brief annotations to a couple of my games on Simon Williams' website http://www.gingergm.com. Feel free to use them if you wish, as long as you give a credit to the website.

We should really advertise and push the "live games" a little harder

Mr Rudd
Can you screen shot my game on Monday after Nf6, I'm White. I also played slightly faster than your destruction of Richard Bates as I was looking at our clocks . I could not 110% see a way out of it for him after he took the piece. If someone else can see it then that would be cool to know. I saw my line up until Qe8+ and knew I was winning.

Interesting game, that. I wondered whether ...Ng8 instead of ...Nc6 might work, but I assume your follow-up is Qf4.

Re: Reporting of 4NCL in the media
My queen sac for two pieces on Saturday is worth more than a passing mention, I think. I showed the game to a number of IMs and GMs afterwards and they could not find the murderous follow-up on move 18, even though they knew something was "there". (Of course I hadn't seen it in advance either, that would have been impossible. I found it rather by process of elimination).
Terry Chapman's win over Keith Arkell was quite spectacular (and speculative) too. Anyone know of another untitled player beating a GM on his debut 4NCL weekend (I don't)?

Heartening to read that there are so many candidates to keep my rather poor quality blunder-filled game on Monday out of any reports.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.Richard Bates wrote:Heartening to read that there are so many candidates to keep my rather poor quality blunder-filled game on Monday out of any reports.

Re: Reporting of 4NCL in the media
I'm in the process of uploading a short video of the final 4NCL round to Youtube and will put up a link at www.bcmchess.co.uk in due course when the upload finishes (these things seem to take ages - I'm amazed that so much stuff ever finds its way onto Youtube given the funereal pace of uploading). Apologies in advance for my indifferent camera work / video editing.

Another 4NCL feature - Jonathan Rogers annotates his 9th round win against Mark Ruston...
