We were well beaten 6-2 in the end, but suffered reversals on boards 2 & 6, in both of which we were winning.Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 7:27 pmMy only complaint is that you did not play like that against Barnet Knights!

Manx ahead with a trademark win from Shirov, and draws on boards 6-8. Match is not over, but nor is it obvious where White Rose might win a game in return.

Unfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.

The links on the 4NCL site offered LiChess, Chessbase, DGT as three viable alternatives.Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pmUnfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.
It is unusual to have the likely title decider in round 9 so its importance may have been missed.

48 games from Daventry are visible on playchess.com in the "Broadcasts" room.

I am interested but not bothered about the outcomeJonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pmUnfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.
Good luck to Manx but it's an overseas team with deeper pockets than the opposition
Div 1 interest mostly focuses on norm opportunities for English players and players I know
Any postings on here represent my personal views

I am also interested, but less so since I stopped playing.
I used to love the middle day of the final weekend. No travel!

For the aesthetically minded amongst us, you might like to appreciate the position after Blacks 11th and Black's 15th in the following encounter.
Note the rook's pawns...
14...Qc8 is allegedly a TN.

Yes, there are other platforms but I always prefer to watch on Chess 24, where you can see everything in one place very easily.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:33 pmThe links on the 4NCL site offered LiChess, Chessbase, DGT as three viable alternatives.Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pmUnfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.

I think the other people in the forum who would be interested in the 4ncl are most likely playing it in right now so wouldn't really be able to comment all that much- even Alan Llewellyn made a special guest appearance and I'm sure would have plenty to tell everyone about it if he were still allowed to postJonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pmUnfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Well, I am playing and would like to report than when I went for a coffee in Warwick that the television was broadcasting number one hits of the 80s. "I Know Him So Well" (from "Chess" the musical) was playing when I joined the queue, which I considered an omen.

Well we scrambled over the line in a big relegation clash. The shock post-game revelation being that had white (for our opponents on board 5) played 30.Qg6 then black was fully intending to resign!Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pmUnfortunately chess 24, usually the best site for following 4NCL, has malfunctioned today, so I do not bring you further observations - not, alas, that anyone other than Loz, Richard Bates and I on this forum seems much bothered about the top divisions anyway.
