I seem to remember that the hot drinks prices were such, that you had to go to Starbucks for a cheaper coffee. (It was the nearest provider of coffee.)

One of my memories at the hotel was players answering their mobiles during the game. That does seem a long time ago now!

Yes - I recall drawing the attention of an arbiter to someone furtively talking on the phone during a game and he wasn't interested at all.

The car parking was really rather peculiar also.

I remember that hotel, not sure that it was the Grand Hotel (with a captal G). though.

My recollection of that area is that there were police signs on the lampposts warning you that if you left your car parked on the road overnight you shouldn't be surprised if it got broken into.

The Paragon Hotel appears to have become the OYO Rowton (not Rowson) Hotel.
