Having been there to hear Alex McFarlane's announcement, the gist was that nothing had yet been decided for Division 3 South but that it was beginning to look more probable that only 9 rounds would be played.

He also said that Division 1 and 2 teams weren't keen on their June weekend because they thought it was too late in the year, implying that that meant teams in other divisions would think the same. That's contrary to the view Division 3S teams expressed in February when most players said they did want a 5th weekend, with few (or was it no) dissenters.

I note that the comment about trying to arrange a fifth weekend that was on the 4NCL website is no longer there.

Ian is correct - Alex did continue by saying that. I couldn't detect any sign from those assembled as to what they thought about it.

I have been advised that a 5th weekend will not be played for Divisions Three South & Central which will finish after the three rounds over May Day Bank Holiday.

Just a quick addition - I have been advised by one of my players that Woodland Grange is now fully booked for the 4NCL Weekend so anyone expecting to stop at the conference centre/hotel is likely to be disappointed.

Since Neil's post, our team captain has booked 6 rooms at Woodland Grange for the next weekend so things may be ok for others too.

Thanks Pete.

I'll get in touch with the player who reported this to me. Possibly he's got his information jumbled.

I have been unable to raise a team for round 7 so have had to request the team be omitted from today's draw.

Are you missing for Rounds 8 & 9 as well?

Just round 7. Over my three teams we are about four players on the Saturday, partially due to UKCC (ironically adults) and other commitments.

I wonder how that will work. There is a triangular match in Round 7. But if Lawrence's team reappears, and no other team drops in or out, there will be no way of completing the triangular match.

How it works is that each submatch of the triangular is then worth 1 point rather than 2.

A valid point. If we hadn't re-appeared though there would still have been an odd number of rounds needing triangular matches so still the same problem?

No problem - another team has dropped out (Throw in the Tal). :(
