I dont suppose the trains will be too much of an issue for players, they are so unreliable on the weekend in normal times that it is a huge gamble to use them and one that will invariably end in a taxi bill for hundreds of pounds when you get trapped on sunday evening after an especially long game
I missed the last rail connections back to Paignton by about 3 hours, and finished about 100 minutes after everyone else, at the round 4 Feb 4NCL, after getting embroiled in yet another R+B v R. But it was worth it....for me anyway.

That must have made you really popular with the arbiting team. I think that you should offer them a free lecture on how to play the R+B v R ending.

I actually did get a lift from an arbiter! Alan Atkinson kindly dropped me off at St Albans, from where I was able to make my way to London Victoria coach station and catch the 11pm night coach back to Paignton.

It was good to see Mestel back. Even better to see that he's still got it!

Once I'd recovered from the shock of seeing him, I did ask what had prompted his return. Having been to David Anderton's funeral it was partly as a tribute to him that he played again for the team which David had captained for many years.

Does anyone know what happened with kings head, they have been a consistent and reliable team for years but it seemed like something went really wrong this season?
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Final standings:
Assuming no withdrawals that makes Division One

chess.com Manx Liberty
Wood Green
Cheddleton
The Sharks 1
Chessable White Rose 1
Celtic Tigers 1
Wood Green Youth
Cambridge University 1
Gonzaga
Guildford Young Guns
Blackthorne
West is Best 1

Presumably Wood Green and Wood Green Youth would have to form separate squads.

Division Two

Chessable White Rose 2
Barnet Knights A
KJCA Kings
The ADs
Barbican 4NCL
Alba
Sussex Martlets 1
North East England
Oxford 1
plus
Spirit of Atticus from 3N
The Rookies from 3C
Schach Attack from 3S

Teams relegated to one of the Division 3's

The Sharks 2
Guildford Castles
Anglian Avengers
Warwickshire Select 1
Manchester Manticores 1
Kings Head
Check Inn

It remains to be announced how the remaining 17 slots in the Division 3's will be allocated.

(edited to add Blackthorne)
