To Div 3 captains……

Feedback has been almost unanimously in favour of two games not three over the rearranged weekend. So please feel free to plan accordingly!

Kind regards
Mike

I recommend checking out the game Rich Vs Cooksey for a fascinating and unusual endgame battle.

Or a shameful blunderfest depending on one's point of view. I was pleased to win the match though, since it was not clear if Crowthorne would be in div 3 next year if we had lost.

Congratulations to Nick's SchachAttack on winning the division. The strongest and most consistent team this year.

A super performance from Crowthorne over both days of the weekend.

I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with it. I had absolutely no idea how to assess it, and I think extremely strong players would make lots of mistakes in such a position.
Congratulations to Nick's SchachAttack on winning the division. The strongest and most consistent team this year.
Thanks. We dodged a bullet playing you in round 1. The final round was really nerve-wracking as It was unclear if Cambridge would win and we were 2-0 down.

It's great to have the 4ncl up and running again. My favourite chess event in the UK. :)

Is there a final verdict on how many 3S teams will stay up next season?

The document said 2-10th place. So it looks like you stay in

Assuming all teams continue and split squads, the Div 3 pools should look something like this:

Divison 3 "North" :

Warickshire Select 1
Warickshire Select 2
Manchester Manticores 1
Manchester Manticores 2
Hull & East Riding Tigers
Chessable White Rose 3
Bradford DCA Knights A
West is Best 2
Oxford 2
Ashfield 1

Divison 3 "South" :

Crowthorne A
Sussex Martlets 2
MK Phoenix 1
Wessex Some Stars A
Wessex Some Stars B
Cambridge University 2
Poisoned Pawns
Iceni 1
Surbiton

Plus 2 of the following allocated North and 3 allocated South

The Sharks 2
Guildford Castles
Anglian Avengers
Kings Head
Check Inn

Due to the geographical closeness of the venues, perhaps the squads with 2 teams can be seperated?

I don't know how many teams the Manticores will have, but I'd guess separating them between 2 venues won't be popular

Maybe asking those with multiple teams might be the best idea, although presumably the idea is to have 2 divisions of roughly equal strength

If I read the proposals correctly, the idea was that the two parts of Division 3 would be separated by time as well as space. They would alternate with playing alongside divisions 1/2 and division 4.

Manticores 1 and 2, if both in Div 3, would ideally be at the same venue

If we have a Manticores 3, then yes, they'd be at a different venue some of the time

Anyway, I shouldn't encroach on a Div 3 S thread

It would appear we can't have Manticores 1 and 2 in the same division, unless we play as separate squads, which seems impractical

So presumably the same applies with Warks 1 and 2, and Wessex A and B, so there may well be some swapping around from the above
