Season 2 has gone by quietly, perhaps something we should be grateful for?

I didn't take part in the first season, slightly put off by the 'slow' time-control, at least for online chess. After 7 matches (although I missed one) I'm very glad I took part this time around! Obviously it's not the same as the OTB 4NCL but at 45+15 every game felt like a real occasion and something worth preparing for (if time allowed)!

I think every game I played lasted over an hour, and more than half at least one player ended very short on the clock. I'd like to thank the 4NCL for continuing to put on quality online events at a time when many think it's barely possible. Judging by the number of teams entering it's certainly been a success.

We have the semi-finals tonight and I'm looking forward to watching on from the sidelines. Wood Green vs Chessable White Rose 1 in particular should be a cracker!

To quote Alex H':

"The rules are:

5. If the event of a drawn match, the tie will be broken using:
a. The lower board count in the results between the teams which remain tied;
b. The game points remaining after elimination of the bottom board or boards as necessary;
c. The team with the higher end of season placing (i.e. closer to 1).

That means "the team on the left" will win if all four games are drawn, because they are the higher seed; the pairings are 1 v 4, 2 v 3."
