I see there's a suggestion the 1 May bank holiday might get put back because of the Coronation
It would be a shame if that happened and the Milton Keynes venue wasn't available on the revised dates

You might have thought the Palace would have checked first

There seem to be teams withdrawing from the first weekends becuase of a lack of hotel accommodation. Whilst this allows players who would otherwise play in the 4NCL to take part in Congresses sheduled for the same weekends, this is hardly good for the health of the league.

Is this Division Three/Four or just generally?

Lack of hotel accommodation will affect all teams. I only know about Division 3/4 withdrawals.

Thanks. It's clearly more problematic if teams start withdrawing from the all-play-alls.

As I do the initial pairings for this division I would be interested to know which teams are dropping out. I know that one person has indicated that both their teams are likely to withdraw but that is not unusual in any weekend. Roger's post seems to indicate he has more knowledge than the officials

Unfortunately one of my players has had to withdraw for the 1st weekend at Daventry. He has a booking for a hotel room at the venue. If any captain wishes to get in touch with me I will advise on the player's phone number so they can arrange for another player to take the vacancy. Please do this via my e-mail address which is on the 4NCL website under "Ashfield".

Well if this is in Division Three which is an all-play-all Division it will cause havoc. Perhaps we can be advised on which team this is and how this will affect pairings? Teams that default Division Three matches should be immediately relegated to Division Four for the remainder of the season and replaced by a team from that Division who can give some assurance they will actually play.

I expect that a number of teams are reviewing their plans following the shocking development that the convenient accommodation which has always been synonymous with 4NCL weekends has been removed without warning.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a QR code stamped on a human face — forever.

That was the story I heard.
I did however spot that the Staverton hotel near Daventry as used in past 4NCL weekend was still available at a higher price on booking.com, for November 5th anyway.

If that is the case perhaps 4NCL or Guaranteed Events might issue something. This is the first I've heard about this.

What is the shocking development that you are referring to? I'm aware from previous seasons that the hotels do tend to be fully booked and group bookings do need to be made months before but I wasn't aware of anything different this season. If there were lots of rooms still available heading into the final week then that would presumably put the 4NCL/Guaranteed Events model at risk of big financial losses.

I understand for Div 3W that the hotel is fully booked for the whole season and there's no overspill nearby; this is going to be an issue if teams then book nearby hotels and their opponents withdraw, let alone what that does to the APA format
