One of the considerations if there is 4NCL otb chess played over the summer is ECF membership.

If 4NCL restarts in the summer prospective team players will not want to cough up an extra £39.00 for two or three games at gold membership levels. I recall that in 4NCL On-Line Season 2 anyone who played in the first match (August 25th) had to pay for the privilege for ECF membership for one week if they were a non-member and then pay again for Round Two which was at the start of September as the ECF Membership year ends at 31st August.
Have the ECF membership rules changed? What you say would not have been the case in the past. Previously, memberships could be purchased from July onwards for the following year, so a non-member (re)joining in July would get membership for 14 months.
I think not:-

The ECF membership year is fixed, and runs from the 1st September to the 31st of the following August. Memberships currently purchased are valid until August 2021. In any membership year, the earlier you join the more benefit you get from your membership!

AFAIK non-members had to be at least a supporter to play in Round One and that lasted to August 31st 2020.

I think this was a side effect of the way the previous membership software worked. (There was a manually administered reset of membership options for sale each year.) Having said that, I think the principle of selling 14 month memberships in July was a sound one.

It is great to consider new formats for the 4NCL and the implications on ECF memberships but lets be realistic here. What is possible depends a lot on what contracts can be signed with the hotels. It seems to me to be incredibly likely that the 4NCL is going to want to run a test case congress before starting up with the League again. This is not going to happen in the Summer because of pent up demand from higher paying events, so the earliest this could happen is Autumn 2021. If this is successful then I doubt you would be rushing into starting up the league immediately, because you would want to check for the possibility of another 'Winter wave'. So, I would say that the very best case scenario is the 4NCL restarting in February 2022.
In short, I think you'll need to enjoy the online version for quite some time.

I'll prepare my troops for the 2019-20 season to recommence in Feb 2022 then

One of the games in Round Six (Braunstone v Bishop Knights in Division Five) seems to be voided at 0-0. Both teams earned a point for this draw. I wonder if anyone knows what happened?

All 4 boards in that match are now 0 - 0 as is the match result itself, in effect.

Last night I noticed one 0 - 0 in the Division 7 match Londinium Legionnaires v. Horsham 3, but thought little of it.

Now the game's afoot...

Interesting season so far, very productive one for White Rose!

Does anyone have a clue about the long term future, or not, of the league?

Iw as intrigued as to how well the current structure was stratifying things. Purely by average strength in the last round 1 through to 7: 2200, 1950, 1800, 1680, 1600, 1600 and 1481 Div 7.

If you fully stratified the league, you would get about:
Div 1: 2220, Div 2: 2021, 3: 1900, 4: 1800, 5: 1700, 6: 1600, 7: 1300

So Div 1/2 the same, but 3 and 4 appreciably stronger and 7 very weak.

Given the likelihood of the league folding/shrinking hugely once FtF chess restarts I guess this is rather a moot point :) Idly interesting to wonder if something/what might have helped at this point, I guess.
