Maybe, maybe not. A perennial worry before the pandemic was the ageing chess demographic and whether clubs/ leagues/ congresses would fold over time. The pandemic hasn't changed that.
......"The Pandemic" will probably accelerate events folding though.

Re: British Championship Congress 2021

I'd also push back on the suggestion of losing a generation of young players. Having played in a few 4NCL online congresses it's noticeable that there is relatively little overlap with congress regulars and the average age seems to be a lot lower. These are likely players who don't have the time an...

Married to the late Peter Furlong, of course.
Had a bad car accident in the late 1980s and never really recovered, though she lived for some time afterwards.
Is that the Peter Furlong of ManCHESSter Supplies?

Re: Membership Renewal

So here we are a year down the line with no "Real Chess" Does the ECF have a plan to encourage Renewal of Membership's later in the year? Surely if the uptake is the same as last year, which in real terms is the same as Member's leaving the ECF .....regrettably the ECF could cease to exist. Persona...

Do you actually know Lev Aronian?
I meet Lev Aronian in Gibraltar.
He came across as a genuine & very pleasant gentleman.
