Re: The ACO is back!
On vaccination, UK is ahead of EU... But on releasing the population from captivity, it isn't. I am very keen to see details of vaccine passports ( still officially denied of course, which means less than nothing ). Will you need just one jab, or two like it says on the box? I may have a reason to ...

Magnus Carlsen Invitational 2021, 13-24 March
TWIC The format has been tweaked for this major, the field has been increased from 12 to 16, in the first major 8 of the 12 players made it through to the second phase and this lead to a lot of caution being rewarded. Players: Magnus Carlsen, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Levon Aronian, Anish Giri, Shakhriya...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal
Never been to Blackpool chess club, but did play at Poulton once, not sure what competition and who for though; I do remember I was on the white side of an Alekhine, so must have been 30 years ago before I gave up with e4

Re: Proposed reorganisation
Too many teams in the same place; if you remember, we had Hinckley Island full and also had to use another hotel a few miles away I enjoyed meeting teams from the South/Midlands too; I think we were unbeaten at Hinckley Island for 2 or 3 seasons because despite finishing bottom of Div 3N we were str...

Re: Proposed reorganisation
When Div 3 North started, we merged with Div 3 South for the final bank holiday weekend at Hinckley Island (it was the final 2 weekends at least one year), so that the best teams got promoted; would it be possible to use that format for the top teams?

Re: Proposed reorganisation
I'd assume North, Central & South would be run in parallel, subject as previously to hotel availability on the selected dates Div 3 North had 16 teams; might lose both Shropshire teams to Central, and both J'Adoube too; there's then the question of where is most convenient for Manx Liberty, dependin...

Proposed reorganisation
There have been documents circulated about this which I can post tomorrow if required The 2019-20 season would be abandoned The opportunity would be taken to eventually move to Divisions 1 and 2 being 12 team APAs at a central venue Division 3 would be split into North, Central and South ideally als...

Re: 2019-20 Season
I've seen a Word document, and an Excel spreadsheet, which presumably is what is referred to
Maybe worth a separate thread?

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal
A big event requires a lot of organisation in advance. You cannot just put it on at short notice. Let me give a quick example that you wouldn't have thought of. Where do you think the congress gets the tables from? What do you think the price will be given pent up demand from weddings? If you agree...

It will be most interesting to see if van Foreest has jumped a level and can demonstrate it again like he did in January
Grandelius might be favourite though
