If vaccinations mean the "third wave" of Covid is no more dangerous to humans than your routine flu, then things will be normalised accordingly.

Various chess clubs (including ours) found ways of getting round the "rule of 6" last autumn, before stricter measures were introduced again.

Impressive records :) They definitely fit my impression - the Woodhouse (top division of the Yorkshire league) has seemed to add very few new long term players over the time I've been playing in it. Mostly from people moving in/post retirement than juniors as well. 4NCL 3N isn't that different. Man...

What links the encounter Foerder (also known as Porath) v Alekhine at the 1935 Warsaw Olympiad, and the correspondence game Simagin v Sokolsky from circa 1965/66? The dates might just be a clue here to the initiated...... Was the Alekhine game the first to be published by B.H. Wood in his Chess mag...

But we're still some way off "finished", and getting figures as low as practically possible before reopening things is maybe not unreasonable.

Anyway I am deferred until 2022 so I hope to see many of you then and there. Don't worry I am sure the ECF will find some why in 2022 of saying its unsafe I think we are in danger of losing a whole generation of young players this decision is farcical . Most of us cant wait o get back to playing OT...
