The Gwent Chess Association, in collaboration with the WCU, are pleased to announce the revival of the Newport Chess Congress. Some of you may remember the event, which goes back to the 1980s. It was always well attended, often attracting 150+ players from Wales and Southwest England. We have found a...

We're flying out of LCY via Frankfurt to Skopje. i suggest you check the details on the Lufthansa site as it was cheaper than going via the ticket scanner sites.

The regulations for the World Teams are now online. Official website is due to go live on May 30th https://fide.com/news/2387

The FIDE Events Commission are meeting with the Ohrid organisers today (5/5/23) to discuss the change of date. Apparently the departure date is remaining as the 29th so, I assume, they want a rest day included. I've been told that the organisers are aware that, as the dates were already published on...

Just heard from FIDE that "there's a 99% chance" that the arrival date for the World Senior Teams will be brought forward to the 18th Sept. Most annoying as flights have already been booked.

First time I've played in an Internatonal Tournament where a) contrary to FIDE regulations, they start at 09:30 and b) there are over 30 teams entered by the host nation.

The world seniors individual event in Bled looks very tempting. Lots of events and activities AND THE ROUNDS START AT 15:00 !! http://wscc2018.european-chessacademy.c ... n/schedule

I've had a reply from Dirk Jordan regarding the start times for Dresden. It may be possible to change the start times, if the majority of participants want it. The 9:30 start is the result of the vote from the 2015 WCh. From his reply: "..... To summarize, the organizers will determine the beginning...

I've put in a query to Dirk and FIDE, on behalf of the Welsh O50's to see if they are flexible on moving the start times. The rules say for top tournaments, that there should be no play before 13:00 and that the preferred time is 15:00. Not expecting much though, from what I've read here. I think th...
