From the gist of this thread I get the feeling that the Kan doesn't give black very good prospects, its more like a sit back and take it type variation.
If there were a shred of truth in that I wouldn't play it.

ECF rating doesn't care about your pairing method at all. Do what you want, just ensure that everyone enjoys themselves, and the Laws are upheld.
At the risk of repeating myself, unless title norms are involved FIDE doesn't care about pairing methods either.

Are you not glad adjudications and adjournments have all but disappeared. (does any league still use them?)
Oh, yes. Adjudications still feature in many competitions and are still ECF graded / rated.

Re: Mr Dodgy Invitational 2 2021

Referencing another thread, I think Jobava is an example of a genius, also of why that isn't sufficient to be a world top player.

I missed yesterday. Doing something more important, but it looks as though it was really exciting.

I did notice that acceleration tended to slightly reduce the number of non-meaningful games over the length of the tournament
In current circumstances it is even harder than usual to predict which games will be meaningful. My rule would be not to try to be too clever.

Do you know how much the rating fee is if players are Silver members?
I think it would be best to get that answer from the ECF.

"A subcommittee of multi-disciplinary experts"

...although we do not appear to know their names, in what disciplines they are expert, or how expert they are.
That was also my first thought. Always the way ( and if the USCF website reveals their identities, I can't find that ).

Seven years ago. I read this at the time but don't remember it saying very much.

But apparently not in the Seychelles, that is the puzzle.

I was rather more thinking about FIDE pairing rules, which are very sniffy about repairing the opponents of people who declare that they are unable to play after the pairings have been published.
That only affects title events, and we don't have too many of them.

That is the basis of this thread. It also explicitly assumes there will be no U-turn on restrictions.

The Chinese vaccine has a relatively lower protection than alternatives. That may explain the surge.
We don't have anything like full information, but the Sinovac success rate would seem to be extraordinarily low in the Seychelles. We may never know.
