Government funding of the ECF is great news for Scottish Chess. One only need look at the recent Wood Green International which featured 4 English players and three Scottish ones. I have seen this happen in real life with a top 100 player playing agaisnt David Bronstein.

I did talk to Bronstein afterwards and I remember saying it was a bit like cricket where there are gentlemen and players. To be honest I am not sure what that means, but I think he sort of did :)

FIDE acted quickly and decisively and now the USCF have followed suit - not what I'd expected to be honest, but kudos to both organisations.

Unusually both players are staying in the same hotel for the match. Rapport and Vitiugov are also staying in the same hotel.
