The forum has been a better place since it rid itself of its RDK obsession.
Agreed - but the obsession was less the Forum's and more one particular forumite who no longer posts.

Re: Caplin Hastings 2023-24

Interesting to note again that strong older players (1950+ - grade not birth year) are suffering again at the hands of juniors who are hugely under-rated. Probably not a surprise anymore.

Re: Caplin Hastings 2023-24

Shreyas seems to have allowed a rather nasty Rb5 tactic with his 40th move as Black.

Re: Caplin Hastings 2023-24

Like a strong GM, perhaps, would be a better way of putting it.

Couple of draws against Fischer I think.
Both at the Varna Olympiad in 1962(!), when the event was still run in preliminary groups followed by Finals. USA and Bulgaria both qualified from the same preliminary group.

Keith seems to have had a nil point bye in Rd 3 but is back playing in Rd 4.

Re: London Chess Classic 2023

Does a draw tomorrow give Mickey a win on tiebreak. You would assume so in which case that will, no doubt, influence his decision.

Re: London Chess Classic 2023

Well done Shreyas. Held a potentially difficult ending - helped by Gukesh missing, presumably 55 Rg3.

Re: London Chess Classic 2023

Having said that, maybe it's difficult but surely not for a strong GM.
