Re: 1st Eastleigh FIDE Congress (Hampshire)

We are pleased to onboard Steven Kawuma, a former the Hampshire Champion in 2007, who comes back to competitive chess after 2010 !
The numbers at 55 players with a day to go look quite respectable for the inaugural event.

Re: New Membership Code Triggers Rating Code creation?

it would have been great to have a digital interface (all possible today) that would quickly convert the Mem # to Rating code, But the main reason could be the payment processing thread where a human interface may be stepping in to verify the payment has been received before code allocation...

Good choice. There's both a large Chinese community and a large Indian community there.
difficult but a good choice for both players...neutral ground eases the fan pressure / expectations & hopefully drives stronger performances similar to the last one!

Re: 1st Cheam FIDE RapidPlay Saturday, 23 March

Aiming to hit the 50 mark soon on the first Cheam RapidPlay this Saturday ( 49 entries now with 2 more days to go!). The Open section could benefit from 5 more players to run as an "independent" section as the other two sections have hit the minimum threshold. Calling any last mile players for the O...

Re: Kent FIDE Congress 8-9 July 2023

After a successful 1st Orpington Rapid Play tournament earlier in May this year, we ( Psyon Chess ) have had a surprisingly overwhelming response to the inaugural Kent FIDE Congress to be held in Tunbridge Wells between 8th & 9th July - the event was over-subscribed with about 2 weeks to go...as we ...

"I'm also of the opinion that the ECF Council - and don't get me wrong, it's full of well-intentioned people - isn't necessarily representative of the wider ECF membership. For starters, today's meeting consisted exclusively of (mainly white) men and I certainly didn't feel anyone related to (for ex...

amazing to see a record number of players - 401 from 46 countries, that I think beats any current tournament in England (food for thought to Organisers...)
