Re: ECF Finance Meeting 2021 on 24th April 2021

I thought I read somewhere that there might be another incentive to join the ECF offered by Chess & Bridge. Isn't the best incentive that the ECF encourages some OTB chess to actually take place? Even better that it takes place unrestricted by rules inspired by risk aversion. Hopefully a congress s...

There is no indication of when Social Distancing might end.
Is there any indication whether that's law or guidance? There may be no practical difference if insurers enforce the guidance by withdrawing cover.
At the moment it only looks like guidance.

Re: Scarborough Congress

It is hoped that it will be possible to run the Scarborough Congress this year on the weekend of 29-31 October. The Centre is planning to re-open from July so the Spa Centre itself should be available by the planned dates. There is obviously still doubt about what the Covid situation will be then, ...

Maybe, maybe not. A perennial worry before the pandemic was the ageing chess demographic and whether clubs/ leagues/ congresses would fold over time. The pandemic hasn't changed that.
......"The Pandemic" will probably accelerate events folding though.
