Ken lived in and played for Loughton. He represented Essex usually for the U1600 team.
In the 1990s, he played for the now defunct Powdermill team
In his younger days he was grader and an arbiter.

I first met Julian at the 1978 Bradford congress where he was joint winner of the open, ahead of several former British Champions. He was a very strong 200+ player. Our paths also met in the London league, where he represented Cavendish for many years. I last saw him in March in Prague where he play...
