Re: What's your earworm?

Paul Johnson has died from Covid-19, at the age of just 50. It should be mentioned that, while Covid does appear to have been the immediate cause of his death, he had for decades been a very long way from healthy. Thanks Nick. I wasn't aware that Paul had been unwell for some considerable time.

Athletics using chess to decide an Olympic title? It would appear that the offer of a draw from Mutaz Essa Barshim (Qatar) to Gianmarco Tamberi (Italy) in the High Jump so that they could share the Olympic title will be one of the sporting highlights of the Tokyo Olympics. However, it did occur to ...

Re: Best Wishes GM Nigel Davies (31-vii-1960)

Happy Birthday Nigel Davies.
I met Nigel a few times at congresses including Leyland, Blackpool and South Lakes, where he was watching his son play.
His two Power Chess Program books, which I have, were both excellent and great value for money.

Exciting race in Hungary. There is now a gap before the second half of the season kicks off with the Belgian Grand Prix 27th to 29th August. Couple of provisional changes to the calendar later in the year. Here they are: 1st to 3rd October Turkish Grand Prix. 19th to 21st November TBC (possibly Qatar)

Well done Peter. Great pictures and great to see a new chess club starting up. There was a new chess club started in Northern Ireland a few months ago. There are pictures of it on the Ulster Chess website. I think it is called Greenisland.

Not even if you tied them together? I stopped doing that years ago. I've not had an alcoholic drink in a few months. Although the alcohol that Nick is providing sounds tempting. Is it Home Brew? Great news in the Olympic Games with Bermuda winning their first ever gold medal. I saw the...
