Re: Alex McFarlane is on the mend.

Alex & Lara congratulations Fantastic news. Good to see Alex looking well. Hopefully Lara has quit smoking. I've known Alex and Lara for twenty-five years. They do a great job in the North of England. It's the first time I've seen Alex wear a suit and Lara's brother looks a bit like Jonathan Speelm...

Re: Events in 2021

I took a look at https://ratings.fide.com/rated_tournaments.phtml?country=ENG out of curiosity to see what's there. There was a rapidplay in Hull listed for yesterday, but I rather think that's just not been removed. Otherwise it's just the Northumbria Masters in August, the Northumberland weekende...

Re: Nikita Pearl Waligwa

Provisionally Queen of Katwe is being shown on BBC1 tomorrow afternoon from 2.35pm until 4.35pm.
There is a write up about the film in today's The Times newspaper in the TV Review section.
It's an excellent film and inspirational story about Phiona Mutesi.

What date is it today? I suspect that you can forget about Charlie arranging anything in Malta. This was 5 hours ago on FB: "After careful consideration of all that Malta and Gozo has to offer, in comparison with living in England, I have decided to return to England as I am missing the weather, th...

Re: Unwritten rules on epitaphs!?

There are no Grandmasters that no one has ever heard of. I have only counted a couple of players who have "died many decades after they played their last competitive game. " There are deaths reported by other members that I've never heard of either, it doesn't mean they shouldn't be reported. That's...
