Well done GM Gawain Jones for winning the Bob Wade Memorial in New Zealand on 10th April with 5.5/6.
2nd was FM Mike Steadman with 5/6.
Joint 3rd was FM Alphaeus Ang and Felix Xie with 4.5/6.

I think this shows what an exhausting game chess is; even dangerous, if your health is less than perfect. Apparently a lot is due to stress levels. I remember reading back in 2014 that two chess players died at the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromso. Sadly two Latvians died at different chess tournament...

Gary Wakeham

I am sorry to report that Gary Wakeham passed away at his home on Wednesday 14th April at the age of 64.
Gary was a long standing member of Cardiff Chess Club and over the years served as Club Secretary and Team Captain. He was also a very popular Junior Coach.
