Re: European Club Cup & Club Cup for Women 2023
Wood Green have got a tough pairing in round 2 - Offerspill - the number 4 seeds and their women’s team have an even tougher pairing in Superchess - the number 3 seeds.

Re: Chess and Pension Fraud - allegation
So what are we saying here? The GM didn't know what he was doing, but didn't know that he didn't know what he was doing? And his friends didn't help? And having been done for not knowing what he was doing, he did it all over again? Have I got that right? Who would ever have thought that a tax dodge...

Re: Chess and Pension Fraud - allegation
So to appeal it, is it correct he doesn’t have an automatic right, but has to apply to the High Court to get permission to appeal on compelling grounds? And none of that stops the judgement being carried out unless the High Court rule it should be paused. So the 24th Oct remains a deadline to pay. ...

Re: Living in the Past: The Chiltern League
Or do the league only want their results submitted twice a year? Not everyone is in favour of monthly lists. Not their decision. The rating system is based on monthly reporting and organisations unwilling to do that should opt out altogether. It may not be their decision but it does seem to be what...

Re: Chess and Pension Fraud - allegation
Was it the British Chess Championship in 2016 received a massive cash injection from one of these characters. I always wondered if it was some of this pension money perhaps? It was the 2017 Championship in Llandudno. Here's a thread about it. https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=8983 The...

Re: Living in the Past: The Chiltern League
I don't understand this post at all. On our version of the ECF LMS software, it is the team captain, or other nominated person, who inputs the team list into the software. Where does 'authorised rating officer' and 'ECF admin person' fit into the process of adding player names into the teams? I've ...

Re: World Junior Championships 2023
My guess would be that they have a policy of rotating it around the continents, and it was North America's turn. They could opt out of countries where most want to leave and cross into the USA legally or otherwise, and is blighted by gangland executions and narcotics trafficking, maybe something a ...

Re: World Junior Championships 2023
It's a world championship, so should rotate. I seem to recall that Nigel Short played in a big Junior event in Mexico. BCF booked him flights from Heathrow, so he pointed out that there were direct flights from Manchester, so how about changing them? BCF said no, so our hero got the earliest possib...

No, but they might withdraw their labour I.e stop playing some or all ECF rated chess.

Re: World Junior Championships
Yes, I should have checked the number of rounds.
You could disregard 2 unhelpful wins.
You couldn’t however disregard 3 unhelpful wins because that would only leave you with 8 games.

Re: ECF meeting reports
Or not - I have exchanged PMs with Mike Truran Curious. The key clause, it has been pointed out to me, is ‘Existing Bronze members outside the new membership scheme will lose their Bronze membership status if, for example, their membership lapses, or if they upgrade to the new single rate to play c...

Re: ECF meeting reports
I understood the rule to be that if you upgrade to Silver/Gold by entering a Congress or otherwise, you cannot go back to concessionary Bronze. Is that not correct? But then the treatment of non-members or the wrong type of member entering a Congress isn't entirely clear. It won't matter if the Cou...

Where does it say that? I believe the opposite is true. I understood the rule to be that if you upgrade to Silver/Gold by entering a Congress or otherwise, you cannot go back to concessionary Bronze.
