Well, going on what I was told, the Round 3 draw for Round 11 was going to be done on Sunday evening, because they finish at 8pm (not 9pm as on Saturday), so they have more time to do the draw ahead of Monday's round.

There are 64 4NCL teams, of which you listed 5 teams in total (I'm guessing you have 2 teams). So that's 10% (ish), the same proportion as above. As long as the other 59 teams don't have a problem, you lose the vote.

The 4NCL need a three-day weekend to play three rounds, so the early May Bank Holiday or the late May Bank Holiday will end up being used. The better of the two is clearly the early one. How would you suggest the 4NCL got around needing to play three games on one weekend, when usually only two days are available? Unlike the Megafinals, there's no real chance in the calendar to move the three-day weekend to another time of year.
The only alternative to a 3 day final weekend would be to revert to the schedule used in the very early years which was six weekends with the final weekend being 1 round + the rapidplay. I'm not sure the organisers would like an extra weekend to squeeze into the calendar though!

Halesowen have already played Guildford 4 and e2e4.org.uk 3, so presumably if AMCA Cheetahs are unable to field a team for the final weekend, this will put Halesowen into a triangular match with Bristol 3 and Oxford 3, yesno?

I have some sympathies with Ben, about trying to organise teams because of the split venues and the lack of an official Div 3 pairings

It has now been over 2 weeks since the last weekend, and we have had no official pairings for at least Round 9, considering that the final weekend is just over 2 weeks away, shouldn't the Round 9 pairings be posted ASAP

Considering this is the number one league in the country, you really expect better organisation

I hate comments like that. It's as though you think the organisers of this have been resting on their laurels doing nothing for a fortnight. Remember that the arbiters by-and-large have day jobs, as well as other tournaments to look after on some weekends, that they have to plan and prepare for.

If you're not a fan of their organisation, why don't you volunteer to be part of the organisational team? It's not as though chess has an abundance of volunteers to do this sort of thing.

Alex,

I have no problems with the organisation itself and the people who run it, they all do a good job

All I am saying is that there has been numerous updates on the website regarding various topics on the 4NCL website

It couldn't have been that difficult to post a provisional Round 9 draw at some time over the last 2 weeks, if it is not there due to problems of teams dropping out (which is normally the teams at the bottom half), at least the top half who have a greater interest would be able to plan for the final weekend

If you know how a basic Swiss pairing works, what has been sent to Ben seems to be pretty easy to work out for yourself from looking at the table. Round 10 is a different kettle of fish, I have no idea how those pairings are done one round in advance.

If what was sent to Ben is official, then why hasn't this been either posted on the website or somebody posted it as a thread on this Forum?

Ben's post originally had e-mail addresses on it; it has been edited down now, understandably. The original version of Ben's post said that it'd be put on the 4NCL website today.

And if it isn't official, just look at the pairings, and do them yourself too. I did the top half a dozen boards, and it seemed to correlate with what Ben received.

The other advantage of that is that you can check your pairing is correct, too.

Thanks Ben for clearing that up

It does more or less correlate what I calculated, but just liked to have known officially

I have not spoken with Adam regarding if he received the email from Neville, though it still would have been a good idea if there was something posted for the general public

They arrived with me a couple of days ago, and I've only just been able to get the skeleton PGN file onto this machine. I should be able to get them done pretty quickly now.
